How the hub is funded.

Community-first model

Free access stays free

The Friday foundations and Saturday build-lab sessions are available as a free livestream because the goal is to get practical AI capability into more hands, not gatekeep the knowledge.

  • Free registrations cover livestream access, replays, and the starter resources.
  • Paid tiers fund the in-room experience, the extra prep, and the follow-up work.
  • We teach this openly on purpose: the premium is execution, support, speed, and access.
Transparent reinvestment

Where paid ticket revenue goes

For each confirmed workshop cohort, paid tickets help cover the real operating overhead of getting the space launch-ready.

  • Venue access, room setup, signage, and fit-out costs.
  • Printing, workbooks, pens, refreshments, and check-in materials.
  • Streaming, hosting, email, payment, and registration infrastructure.
  • Any surplus goes back into the space, future free education, and community programming.

We are positioning Melbourne AI Hub as community-first and transparently funded. We are not presenting it as a registered nonprofit at this stage.

The same page includes a founder-only roster view for scanning emails, marking late/no-show, and checking both attendance days. It uses the existing founder RLS policy on mah_registrations.

  • Notes stay in checkin_notes for walk-ins and exceptions.

What to bring, and what we provide.

Bring

Keep it practical

Laptop recommended for the build lab Phone is enough for foundations Bring a charger Notebook optional
  • The foundations segment is mostly informative, so a phone or notebook is enough.
  • The build lab is hands-on: bring a laptop if you want to SSH, edit files, and publish alongside us.
  • Bring a charger because the Saturday build work uses real tools.
  • Arrive 15 minutes early if you are attending in person.
